MacBook backlight off / on when moving the lid?

My gf MacBook had a problem for some time now, when the backlight turns off if the ceiling is set at an angle of 45 degrees to the keyboard. This small area / position slowly increased so that in fact could only operate the computer with a backlight to work when the screen is tilted at an angle less to 45 degrees. It resembled a flexible cable broke in the hinge mechanism, but my experience is limited to the use of PC ... Non-Mac hardware. Does anyone have an idea about this? The team works well and continues to show things on screen, but are almost impossible to see without the backlight. The hard drive still makes the old sound, etc. .. The views on this matter would be greatly appreciated. We know it is possible that your only alternative in May simply an authorized repair place, but if something can be addressed Failing that? Thank you!

The guts of a MacBook is no different from a PC, save perhaps the design of components. I agree it is more likely a bad flex cable / bad connection. Hopefully your friend Mac is still under warranty.
