Laptop should I buy for my birthday?

My birthday is next month and I'm looking to buy a new laptop. I will restrict it boils down to two companies that can offer the best for the money: Sony and Apple. I know that both companies are great in their success, but both the MacBook and Vaio everything I need. The only thing is that the Vaio Windows Vista from Microsoft, and I hate Microsoft.
