I dropped my laptop. My LCD is internally cracked. What now?

Yesterday was the worst day of my life. I grabbed my laptop bag while getting out of the car and hung it around my shoulders. All of a sudden, my laptop fell out and dropped on the concrete street. The laptop bag was not fully zipped...
Now the LCD comes up with all types of colored lines and it seems like it is internally damaged and even cracked. The surface looks intact but that probably doesn't mean anything.

I'm a college student and I spent 6 months saving for this notebook
Funny enough, the warranty expired last month

I'm on a budget but at the same time I need a new system in order to work. Does anyone know what to do next?
What should I do with the laptop? Is it worth getting a new LCD?
When would be a good time to buy a laptop? Where could I get a really good deal?

They sell laptop monitors on EBAY. make sure you get one that says New, or working. Or you can always go to the notebook manufacturer and get an estimate of how much it will be to replace. On EBAY you would have to do it yourself or have a friend do it. It wont be as much as the laptop. Monitors go for around 200 bucks.
