HP dv9000 display problem...need suggestions.?
I have an HP dv9999us laptop that has been having an odd problem with the screen for the past month. The screen works, but it looks as if the video signal is scrambled somehow. The picture is fuzzy and has lots of colored lines flashing across the screen. If I hook it up to an external monitor, it displays flawlessly one the external but still has the same problem on the original screen.
I have owned the laptop for just over two years and have had few problems(a miracle with this model, I'm told). In an attempt to fix the problem, I have replaced the screen hinges, lcd cable, and inverter. The problem still remains. Since it still runs an external, I know it can't be the GPU. I just want to know if there's anything else it could be aside from the LCD itself. Anyone think they can help?
And please, don't link me to an HP forum. I have already looked everywhere in them and have yet to find any helpful information other than to try replacing the parts that I did.
Vertical lines on an LCD indicate failing circuitry since the wiring of the pixels runs horizontally across the LCD. Fuzziness indicates a loss of signal to the individual pixels. The inverter powers the backlight so it would have nothing to do with that. Generally, pros use the external monitor test to see if the LCD needs to be replaced. If external good, internal bad -- that signals an LCD replacement.
