Why are pictures displayed on the LCD appear paler than they really are?

I noticed my LCD screen, the images appeared is quite boring, but when I downloaded on the Internet and the computer, I thought they were very bright and not as they seemed on camera. I noticed that my screen D40 is sharper. Have you the same experiences? For those of you who do not know, I'm shooting with the Canon EOS 30D Digital SLR Camera.
