OK to put an HD widescreen LCD in a flatbed truck?
I'm moving, the new house is only 2 miles away and we move with a truck. Well, I'll try to find the best way to get around what I consider one of my most goods valuable. It is a 46 "Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV. I wonder if you should take? I have a vague recollection that I think some TV (I do not know if it was LCD or plasma) were forced to remain upright. And I know that when they delivered the TV, the box had an arrow pointing top that? I thought the safest way to proceed would be to put all the pillows and couch cushions I in the bed and put it in the top (around all sides with pillows and blankets and things of course), and cover the screen with a clean blanket Nice (to keep dust and other things of the road, off-screen). Is it a safe way to move my TV or is there a better way? Note: When I said against the pillows on the bed, I spoke of the box.
NO! Never set a flat screen TV. No matter if it's LCD or plasma. Large flat-screen TVs are prone to deformation. Rounding a sign of bad things happen. When the flat-screen televisions are shipped on pallets, which come in upright or tip for a reason. Sent to board bending is almost nonexistent. The best way to ship standing on the back seat of a car, next to the screen to look backwards. A fifth seat belt person makes a good headline. Place a thin flexible cover between the side of the screen and the rear seat and fill the space between the rear TV and the back seat with blankets and pillows to make sure. do something similar if you can with a truck or SUV. Same a short trip to the level is risky. Yes, you can move a short distance that way, but why take that risk? Many people give information in this regard and does not know what they are talking. If you want proof, easy. Go to your local BestBuy or chain mail. Ask someone in the back, the reception area that actually download the pallets (forklift operator in general) to ask how to get flat panels. Are flat or in a border / vertical? I worked in a warehouse moving these things, I do not remember ever having seen plain. If ever delivered in this way, it could be because the original packaging protects the screen from folding. But if you move without packing ....

Ah tax-refund time, when a geek girl’s fancy turns to thoughts of LCD HDTVs… Seriously, my husband and I are looking to replace our ancient (in electronics years) floor-model rear-projection TV ...
