What computer would be good for a computer programmer?
I'm thinking about buying a new computer. My 2 year old laptop died. I'm thinking about buying a netbook for mobile stuff and a POWERFUL desktop for a workstation.
My old Acer laptop had 4GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 1.8 dual core Turion, and a GeForce 7800. In my perception that thing was fast. It ran XP Pro with no lag.
What configuration do you think would benefit a computer programmer? I could figure it out on my own but I want to see what other people would think. Thanks.
Gateway 7805P has an nVidia 9800 and about the same setup otherwise (faster CPU, though). I use an older version (6860FX) for software development and it's more than powerful enough.
