buying first computer LCD screen?

i'va had my computer for ages, and am now going to buy an LCD screen for it. I've seen them for $120 is this a reasonable offer? Can i just plug the screen into my computer normally...and just go or does it need to be installed? WHat are the pro'd and con's of having an LCD screen?

Yeah you can plug it in just like a normal screen. LCD screens are a lot easier on the eyes. There is no "flicker". You will be able to sit in front of one much longer without strain on your eyes.

Some of the bad things I can think of are ghosting. Ghosting occurs on lower quality screens that have bad refresh rates. The only time you will notice ghosting is when you have fast moving images on your screen. Like video games and DVD movies. The refresh rate on my LCD is 6ms and I play games all the time. I dont notice any ghosting at all.

Another con is for people that need to see exact color replication. A traditional CRT screen can reproduce colors because they have a broader spectrum.

LCD's still display colors very VERY well. The only people that will notice colors are graphic designers or people that rely on exact color matching/shading on screen vs prints.
