Acer Aspire black screen after you turn?

Hello, I have this Acer Aspire One for 7 months as a gift from my friend. just arrived with unit, battery and adapter. no recovery disk or installation. Now my problem is that, suddenly, I turned on the laptop, but I have black screen no logo appears only switch the green light button.and even left for an hour, but nothing exchange. What should I do? This could be the problem? Please help. XP operating system.
